    • This week's local feature is Informative Noise from @thepeopletakingpictures.

When he's not playing guitar in local favourites @psychedelicporncrumpets or running @whatrealityrecords, Luke Parish is People Taking Pictures and kicks off 2020 with his debut album, Informative Noise. Retaining some of the psychedelic sounds one may expect being the guitarist of PPC, it doesn't take long for Informative Noise to show a much wider range of influences, with elements of hip-hop production being as equally represented, aided by the appearance of Superego vocalist Nelson Mondlane on a couple of tracks. Informative Noise is a truly impressive debut album of original music, with the combination of psychy-shoegaze and hip-hop proving to be a winning formula from People Taking Pictures.
    • This week's RTRFM feature album is Countless Branches from @billfayofficial.

An artist with one of the most fascinating journeys in contemporary, music, psych-folk artist Bill Fay returns with his endearing fith album, Countless Branches. After failing to breakthrough in the early 70s, Fay faded into obscurity until being pulled back into the spotlight at the start of the decade, thanks to songwriter and producer Joshua Henry, who had been fascinated by Fay's second record from 1971, Time of the Last Persecution, an oddity in Henry's father's collection. A decade on, 76 year old Fay has once again teamed up with Henry on Countless Branches, a stark, stripped back record of mellow, pastural folk meets chamber pop sounds built entirely around three sounds - piano, occasional guitar and Fay's sincere, endearing vocals as he sings about subjects from the beauty of nature, the power of the human spirit and the fragile, cyclical nature of existence. 50 years since the release of his debut, self-titled album, and ten since his triumphant reemergence, Countless Branches show's that Fay's simple, striking, minimalist folk music is as relevant and enchanting as ever.
